Tragic News on UPS Incident: Fatalities Rises to 13

The tally of victims from the transport jet which ignited and went down has climbed to 13, as confirmed by latest reports.

City Leader's Announcement

“On my way to the Teamsters’ vigil, I learned of a thirteenth victim that died as a result of the plane incident,” expressed the city mayor in a social media post. “My heart is with the loved ones, companions and co-workers of all who were lost in this recent calamity. We will endure this collectively.”

Victims Identified

A statement from UPS listed the officers operating the aircraft as Captain Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our sympathies are extended to each UPSer who has been touched and all in our community community – supporting you and making sure you receive the attention and aid you need is our priority,” the organization’s message stated.

Probe Findings

National officials disclosed that the UPS cargo plane’s wing burst into flames and an engine separated soon after departure from the aviation hub, leading to the jet to fall and explode into a fireball.

The safety agency stated it is examining the plane’s upkeep logs, which was in Texas for repairs several weeks ahead of the crash.

Aircraft records revealed the jet was on the tarmac in the Texas city from early September to 18 October.

“We are knowledgeable that this aircraft was there in San Antonio,” stated an official on the following day, not giving a exact period. “We will examine each aspect of service that was completed, even the San Antonio period, all the way to the day of the trip.”

Recovery of Key Evidence

The pilot’s recorder and information unit were found, and the power plant was discovered on the airfield.

The devices – referred to as data containers – were constructed to endure collision damage and severe temperatures from blazes, and they appeared to be in one piece when discovered amid the wreckage. Investigators intend to reviewing information from the recorders.

The plane’s final recorded information showed an altitude of that level and a rate of 210 mph prior to the accident.

Maintenance History

Per Federal Aviation Administration files dated that date, a fissure on a structural piece in the tank area required maintenance.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which stated it provides structural repairs for the carrier’s aircraft and manages a service location in San Antonio, chose not to comment, but expressed it would work closely when investigators contacted it.

Operations Resume

At the same time, the hub activities restarted that evening with its overnight or night sort operation, official a representative said. The three tarmacs at the aviation hub were additionally open again.

The UPS package handling facility in the city is the organization’s biggest. The facility employs over twenty thousand workers in the region, handles three hundred trips each day and sorts in excess of four hundred thousand parcels an hour.

Local Support

A gathering was organized on the evening of 6 November by the local labor union, which acts for workers at the airfield, the firm’s biggest air cargo hub.

The union chapter, which represents employees, began the memorial with a moment of silence at that time, the approximate hour of the crash before.

“This event was so sudden, so unexpected,” the mayor addressed the group of two hundred. “No one had a chance to bid farewell to any of those who we have lost.”
